Scott Staub

Scott serves as Managing Director of Brakeley Search, and conducts leadership searches on behalf of our clients. A nonprofit professional for over 30 years, Scott has demonstrated success in building high performing teams, budgeting and financial analysis, problem-solving, and creativity, to achieve measurable results. He has served as both staff and consultant to many nonprofits. He was the executive director for the Friends of the San Francisco Public Library and recently Chief Advancement Officer for the Parkinson’s Institute and Clinical Center.

Over the course of his career, Scott has served nonprofit organizations by planning, directing and implementing capital campaigns to raise millions of dollars for hospitals, churches and schools. An accomplished major gift solicitor, Scott has successfully researched, cultivated and solicited many six and seven figure gifts from individuals, corporations and foundations.

Scott has worked in healthcare, social services, medical research and religious organizations. He was a regional director on Rotary International’s PolioPlus campaign.

Scott holds the Advanced Certified Fund Raising Executive credential, the highest available for fundraisers, and is one of 110 people in North America to achieve this distinction. He has been honored by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Aloha and Silicon Valley chapters as an Outstanding Fundraising Professional. He has served as an officer of AFP International board and the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy board. He’s been a regular speaker at the AFP International Conference as well many AFP chapters. He is currently chair of the AFP International Conference Education Advisory Committee and on the ACFRE Board of AFP.

Scott holds a MPA from Golden Gate University in San Francisco and a BA from Washington University in St. Louis. Among Scott’s hobbies are food preserving (making pickles, jams and fruit preserves).
