Sally Carlson

Sally Carlson spent 20 years in corporate finance, commercial banking, and portfolio management for institutional investors. In 2000, she joined Heidrick & Struggles, a global retained executive search firm, where she specialized in financial services and nonprofit searches. In 2006, Ms. Carlson, co-founded Terra Search Partners, LLC, a retained executive search firm focused on the real estate industry and the nonprofit sector, with a national client and candidate base.

Ms. Carlson spun the nonprofit practice out of Terra Search Partners to form Carlson Beck LLC, in 2011, focused exclusively on the nonprofit and philanthropy sectors. The firm has offices in San Francisco, New York and Connecticut.

Sally graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley, with a minor in Political Science, specializing in Soviet studies.

Sally has served as the Board Chair for both the Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation and for CompassPoint Nonprofit Services. She is a past Board member of the Non-profit Housing Association of Northern California, and the Paul Taylor Dance Foundation in New York City.

Currently, Ms. Carlson serves on the Leadership Board of the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine at UCSF and on the Board of Rockwood Leadership. She also serves as a Trustee of Deep Spring College.

Ms. Carlson, along with her children, founded the Human Capital Scholarship Fund which provides financial support to students from underrepresented groups who are the first in their families to attend college. They are in their sixth funding cycle in 2012.
